Oranssi Pazuzu: The Madness Continues.

Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kynsi

Finnish avantgarde black metal band Oranssi Pazuzu recently dropped their new album, Mestarin Kynsi, marking a more accessible approach to their sound. The title, if it’s correct through Google Translate, means “Master’s Nail”. In other words, a name in line with what we have become to expect from the group.

The theme of the tracks on the album has almost solely a religious mark, with titles like “Sacrament of Emptiness” (Tyhjyyden Sakramentti), “Relevation” (Ilmestys), and “Hall of the Righteous” (Oikeamielisten Sali), except the song Uusi teknokratia (A New Technocracy). A technocracy is an ideological system of governance in which the decision-makers are selected on the basis of their expertise in a given area of responsibility, especially in regards to scientific and technical knowledge.

The band is probably one of the best known black metal bands that blends psychedelia into their sound, while always try to bend the assumption of what metal can be. Overall a great new release from the fins.
