False Gods debut full length is named No Symmetry… Only Disillution and that is very welcomed after three EPs the last five year! The band was formed five years ago in New York and deliver a special blend of sludge/doom metal mixed with melodic noise and down-trodden hardcore. On the debut album there are a fair amount of shifting between melancholy and rage and a very powerful and potent music. The first taster of the album is entitled Stay Frosty,
The band states about the song, «The song serves as a warning to be conscious and cautious of what you say, especially in today’s climate. A lot of what is being shared, posted, and tweeted is self-serving and full of misinformation and deceit. Even at the end of our days as our bodies start to break down we let our minds tell those same lies and fail to heed the orders of the flesh… rather continuing to believe the deceptions of the mind».
The band has a nice ability to effectively emote and dictate mood with their music. The guitars are big and expansive – very reminiscent of Geordie Walker’s signature guitar sound, especially on heavier albums like Absolute Dissent. That alone sets this band far apart from the typical Sludge / Doom crowd as these riffs are often complex without being technical and always make things interesting. The band are somehow able to weave these melancholy passages and overwhelming heaviness with a more striped down hardcore foundation underlying it all.
