For 10 years, Ixion have carved out a special place within the doom scene, with their singular blend of ambient/electronic music and atmospheric doom metal, also drawing from gothic metal and other influences like cinematic scores, post-rock or cold folk. Ixion is highly regarded by those who love atmospheric doom with synthwave elements. The track Farewell,
French atmospheric doom duo Ixion are now streaming their entire new album titled L’Adieu Aux Etoiles, ahead of its release this Friday, October 9th on 29978 Productions / Finisterian Dead End.
The new album is now playing in its entirety at Invisible Oranges, who commented «French doom duo Ixion’s upcoming album L’Adieu aux Etoiles blends the mournful cadence and timbre of funeral doom with a sci-fi thrill, building suspense and atmosphere through starry synthesizers and looming pads. Heavy, oppressing, airy, and wondrous: it’s a paradox that can only exist beyond the speed of light». The track The Black Veil,
Mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios, the follow-up to 2017’s third album Return sees the duo comprised of Julien Prat and Yannick Dilly once again delivering an ethereal and melancholic doom metal that is simultaneously dark and enriching, heavy and elegant, yet this time Ixion delve deeper into miserable and gloomy ambiances recapturing the more dismal sound of their early years.
«We started this album driven by a desire to get back to funeral doom ambiances, and soon felt the new material was in fact at the very heart of our universe».
«Thus, it became the idea : to release a condensed album, focused on our core musical identity. It meant to get a production which totally matches our music, and finally, the songs really sound as we had imagined», Says founder Julien Prat.
