Finland’s death metal unit Worthless return with their sophomore album Melancholic Rites. Just like the title suggests, the central theme of the new album is melancholy and all kinds of related unstable emotions. The word melancholy itself is an old one and has many more meanings and relations than just the most obvious ones we think of today. Among other things, it used to be one of the deadly sins.

Founded in 2009 Finnish death metal band Worthless is about to release their 3rd album Melancholic Rites on 6th of November 2020. Their musical approach to death metal can be best described as old school & caveman-like where ruthlessly hammered faster songs and passages are being followed by slower and oppressing heavy ones.

Just like the title suggests, the central theme of the new album is melancholy and all kinds of related unstable emotions. The word melancholy itself is an old one and has many more meanings and relations than just the most obvious ones we think of today. Among other things it has used to be one of the dead sins.

So far Worthless has put out a demo, two full length albums and a split as well as played numerous shows in Finland. Their second album Grim Catharsis (2015) was described as «one of the best death metal albums of the year»

Finnish premiere metal magazine Inferno gave the rating 4.5/5 as well as 6/7 in Metal Hammer Germany. The split album (2017) with Finnish thrash metal pioneers A.R.G. was also praised in Inferno with the following words: «Loins of Babylon is a vigorously hammering song with a melodic hook and it is one of the best tracks of Worthless. Apocalyptic grimness and maniacally galloping songs are in line with the previous album Grim Catharsis».

Melancholic Rites was r ecorded and mixed by Panu Raatikainen at Studio Rantajätkät, and mastered by Jaakko Viitalähde / Virtalähde, and produced by Worthless & Panu Raatikainen.
