In the beginning Pink Floyd was a psychedelic rock band, which became frontrunners for psychedelic music in the 60’s – and popularized the genre for the 70’s.
The genre became popular with groups fighting against corrupt governments and illegal warfare, as so many did at the time. Pink Floyd’s lyrics addressed the meaning of life, and how hard it was to live in a system that was not fair to the poor and middle class.
Now many years later the genre have developed into a myriad of different styles, and I have three band that made a great impact on me in 2020 in various ways. I have choose to not rank them as they different strength.
Justin John And The Shadow Of Sound: A true psychedelic experience…..
Shadow Of Sound is a musical project from Portland Musician/Songwriter OctoRok, aka–Justin John, lead guitar player of Portland’s premier Dead-tribute: GBB Justin John And The Broken Cloud is a true psychedelic experience.
This progressive-rock epic takes cues from bands such as Yes, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd. It grips you with music from both near and far, old and new, and from somewhere all-together different. From it’s opening brigade of guitars, Hammond organ, and choral vocals, to its strange–even terrifying–marriages of Psychedelic Rock, Dark Ambience, Electronic Dance Music, Bluegrass, and Robert Johnson-esq Blues… You’ll never be sure what’s coming next! …and when the end is finally at hand you’ll be lifted up into a thematic emotional high that you won’t soon forget.
This unique album tells a deep, interesting musical tale from a time yet to come, where objective experience is augmented with illusory memories supplanted into our thoughts by an almighty super-intelligence peering into our dimension of existence from a strange realm beyond… Only by recognizing one’s connection to this great mystery does one realize that the greatest mystery of all is that we are living a future that has already happened.
All songs written, performed, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by Justin John. You Were The Desert Breeze (in this soft, lonely world)”co-written with Craig Marshall. Nine Golden Crowns with Rich Landar on mandolin, Juliana Trivers on fiddle, and Harrison Olk on banjo. Cover artwork by Tomasz Jedruszek, Poland. Production assistance: Mike Johnson & Rich Landar.
Shadow Of Sound is the culmination of a lifetime of musical experimentation and adventure. It is the blossom atop the stem of a musical career spanning three decades, which gradually traversed northward along the western coast of the United States until taking root in Portland, Oregon—the heart of America’s beautiful Pacific Northwest. Drew Charron – Spring Moons
There is a lot of fascination with music, but one of the exciting elements that most people probably think so much about this:! Bands or musicians who yesterday were completely unknown to us are suddenly the day after music we think is absolutely fantastic and almost cannot get enough.
Drew Charron sings and plays drums, percussion, keyboards and synthesizers on his new album Spring Moons. To sum up briefly and make an album with little music is obviously not an alternative. Charron is a generous musician and the album Spring Moons last for more than hundred and seven minutes of music. Hundred and seven minutes and forty-nine seconds of splendid psychedelic music.

Lexington in Kentucky is a vital part of the bluegrass-region. Charron has probably heard a lot about bluegrass when he was growing up in Lexington, but fortunately chose to play creative psychedelic music.Drew Charron started his career in music playing drums at the age of 12. From 2007 to 2017 he was a founding member for the group The Past and contributed to putting out their first 3 albums. At the end of 2017, Drew decided to pursue his career as a solo artist.
Charron stated, «Album #2 is officially underway. These are snippets of all the ideas that I’ve been cataloguing, many from even before Spring Moons was finished. There’s over 50 riffs and it already stretches to about the 45 minute mark. Next comes a whole bunch of sorting, arranging, and potentially throwing things in the garbage». The attached picture shows what Charron do.

Giants, Dwarfs And Black Holes – Everwill
Giants, Dwarfs And Black Holes – GDaBH – was formed in December 2019 as newborn brainchild of a few experienced musicians from 2 local bands, which were constantly struggling with the line-up problems. After a few way-out and wicked jam sessions full of esoteric energy and micro- macro- and multidimensional spiritual events they decided to choose a common path.
Everwill – the debut album of Giants, Dwarfs And Black Holes from Germany brings 42 minutes of psychedelic rock, where heavy, acid and stoner riffs intertwine with progressive elements, where doom meets blues, where classic rock structures transform and confuse with long improvised jam parts.

Everything on Enterwill is covered with the characteristic and strong female voice, which glides, hypnotizes and above all refines the multicolored musical picture even more. Giants, Dwarfs And Black Holes Holes was formed in December 2019 as newborn brainchild of a few experienced musicians. The band is a result of so-called friendly fusion of 2 local bands from Rhein-Main region (Germany), which were constantly struggling with the line-up problems.
To finally solve this trouble they resolve to choose a common path… And after a few successful, way-out and wicked jam sessions full of esoteric energy and micro- macro- and multidimensional spiritual events they decided to unite under the common name Giants, Dwarfs And Black Holes. The musical starting point is Heavy Psychedelic Rock – a musical journey into the cosmos inside ourselves – from 70’s psychedelic rock through stoner, desert, space, blues, progressive, acid, kraut, jazz to grunge and doom.
