Kollapse: A step onto the road of grim realism….

Kollapse - Sult

Aalborg’s names are reproduced as Alabur and Alebu on coins from the 1000s. In King Valdemar’s land register, the city was called Aleburgh in the Viking times. The Vikings have long since disappeared from Aalborg, but now the band Kollapse is responsible for the savagery with their music deliveries!

Kollapse is a trio from Aalborg, Denmark.

The last couple of years, Kollapse have been focusing on writing unembellished, intensely personal and uncompromising music – with lyrics solely in their mother tongues – they take the plunge into existential crisis, isolation, love and death. Their journey continues inwards, plunging deeper into introversion and raw emotion.

Danish sludgy post-metal trio Kollapse have just revealed a music video for a new song off their forthcoming second album Sult, which is set to be released on April 9, 2021 via Fysisk Format, in cooperation with Maniyax Records, Dingleberry Records, and Virkelighedsfjern. The track Byrd,

The lyrics for Byrd revolve around individual feelings of being defined by the past anchored to or trapped in behavioral or feelings of self-loathing.

The album itself is about hunger. «The absence of skin on skin and the catastrophic consequences when that hunger turns into desperation». – explains the band. «It is about the duality of searching for purpose and losing all in the process. Staring long and hard into the void and realizing the futility of struggle. Sult is a statement on desire, grief and the pure human necessity to scream back at an empty existence. It is a step onto the road of grim realism paved by mavericks such as Edward Munch, Carl Th. Dreyer and Stig Sæterbakken. Offering no solutions or postmodern irony, Sult simply reaches out».

The last couple of years have been particularly difficult for the band, after a string of shows in support of their debut album they struggled to keep the band going and ended up losing two of its members in the process. Regrouped as power trio, Kollapse recorded this new album last summer in the middle of a global pandemic at The Hideout Studio along with Lucas Illanes, who also produced and mixed the album. Mastered by James Plotkin, the follow-up to 2018’s debut album “Angst” sees the Danish trio incorporating influences of 90’s noise rock and post-hardcore into their dissonant and sludgy post-metal style.,

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
