Donner: The motto became moods and grooves.
Donner - Hesitant Light

Behind the Donner name we find White Willow/The Opium Cartel frontman Jacob Holm-Lupo. There’s a impressive guest lists on this album including Georg Wadenius, Keith Carlock ( Toto, Steely Dan) , Hedevig Mollestad and Marte Eberson to name a few. The new album is entitled Hesitant Light and would be released 26 November 2021 by Apollon Records.
Donner is a project helmed by White Willow/The Opium Cartel frontman Jacob Holm-Lupo. The original intention was for Donner to be an explorative space where fiddling with hardware synthesizers and hardware effects consisted of the actual work, while atmospheric instrumentals evoking 1980s John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream soundtracks was the hopeful outcome.
As work progressed, more people got involved, partially because of a desire to offset the mechanical rhythms of sequencers and drum machines with some organic and human elements. The motto became moods and grooves, and eventually Jacob Holm-Lupo got as much inspiration from George Duke and Herbie Hancock albums as from, say, the soundtrack to Escape from New York.
Holm-Lupo`s latest baby is as mentioned above a project he calls Donner, was originally intended as a pure electronica project. The original inspiration came, to a large degree, from Berlin School electronica like Tangerine Dream, Manuel Göttsching and such, as well as synth-based soundtrack music from the likes of John Carpenter and Fabio Frizzi.
