On the morning of October 12, 1984, the Provisional IRA detonated a powerful bomb at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, where leaders of the Conservative Party attended a conference. The bomb exploded near the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s room, but she escaped unharmed.
Sel Balamir is from Brighton, and he makes instrumental music that does not contain exploding bombs. On the contrary, it is an atmospheric space prog and with the smell of seaweeds etc.
Thomas Gelfer states on Bandcamp, «If I close my eyes I can still feel the waves and smell the seaweed. A great listen from start to finish. Favorite track on the album Swell Seagull.
«Feel like a Mermaid swimming in the shore of your Island. Favorite track the title track Swell».
Sel Balamir is probably best known for his work as frontman for the band Amplifier.
