Maudits: Motivated by a cathartic need of liberation
Maudits - Angle Mort
Maudits was formed by live members of Throane, Ovtrenoir and ex members of The Last Embrace, Maudits is a new instrumental moniker. Influenced by doom, post-rock, progressive and ambient, their first album self-titled album is imagined as the score of a damned year for its creators.
Motivated by a cathartic need of liberation, create mental images to plunge in a balance of light and void. Right after the release of their critically lauded debut album, Maudits are back with a new EP titled Angle Mort, now scheduled for release on November 5th via Klonosphere Records.
COVID-19 and three confinements freed up some spare time to work on new music whilst social distancing, thus the quick arrival of a brand-new record just a few months following the release of their debut.
The recording consists of two new compositions and three reworked, restructured and rerecorded songs originally found on the first album. With Henosis Studio taking care once again of the mixing and mastering, Maudits’ vision was clear from the get-go. To create new material and reinterpret some old songs. These said old songs have been so altered that they could in fact be considered new ones.
The whole recording is enriched with ambient and ethereal soundscapes with the cello of Raphaël Verguin adding a haunted vibe to the overall sound of Maudits.
This confined album reasserts Maudits’ quest of liberty and their insatiable need to explore the realms of their musical world.
