Riverwood - Shadows And Flames

According to Prog Archives there are only three prog band from Egypt, but of course there are more than three bands from Sphinx’s and pyramids homeland that plays prog. The band Riverwood from Egypt is a very exciting and good band. There are 49 metal band from Egypt according to metal-archives.

Riverwood was formed by Mahmoud Nader and Omar SAalem in 2018. The band released their first album Fairytale on the 31st of December 2018. Now the band are back with their sophomore album Shadows And Flames.

The music shows a melodic yet heavy take on progressive folkmetal with both clean and growled vocals and hints of doom metal. Also their native Middle-Eastern influences show on occasion. Recommended for fans of Riverside and Dan Swanö from Nightingale. Riverwood offers very interesting and very good arrangements and the composition is top notch. Very solid and good vocal and much melody and heavy riffs as a bonus!

January 2022 – Riverwood is a band with a focus on combining the world of extreme metal with the beauty of symphonic music and the earthy melodies of folk. Their sound is epic and cinematic, with melodies that are instantly easy to relate to and catchy. Their most recent album, is titled Shadows And Flames, and it feels like an incredibly broad collection of songs.

On one hand, the listeners can expect familiar elements to the symphonic metal scene, including massive walls of guitars, as well as some intricate string arrangements. On the other, there is so much interesting sound design going on, including compositional sections akin to cinematic scoring, as well as some very interesting effects that aren’t typically heard in this genre.

The huge variety of sounds allow the album to be a musical journey to discover – a multi-dimensional listening experience that will leave you with a whole new appreciation for the blend of folk, metal, and modern symphonic music.

Riverwood is a 5-piece Egyptian progressive metal band from Alexandria, Egypt. The band formed in 2018 from a collection of talented musicians who met during a metal festival in Alexandria in 2017 and who all just couldn’t get enough Opeth , Nightingale and Kamelot. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses heavy metal riffs and Middle Eastern sounds with death metal growls and clean vocals mixed together that will make you want to float away on a dream cloud.

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
