Rick Miller: Music with sensors to art rock and crossover prog and more.
Rick Miller – Old Souls
I have followed Rick Miller’s career for many, many years, and am impressed by all the distinctive and often great music he has made. It started all the way back to 1983 and the album Starsong, and recently came album number 16 Old Souls two years after the previous album Unstuck In Time. A bit slack pace for Miller came with a new album all the years from 2011 to 2015. I live well with that and with Old Souls, Miller shows again what a formidable artist he is. The sympathetic Canadian and multi-instrumentalist delivers a really dark and atmospheric music with sensors to art rock and crossover prog and more.
Rick Miller states, «This is my most recent album, in the genre of what I would call progressive rock. That term defining (in my opinion), the type of music that was made famous throughout the 70s by bands such as Genesis, The Moody Blues and Pink Floyd. The music is soft, dark and melodic with the occasional edge, because that’s the way I like it. So if your idea of prog rock is heavy metal and jazz fusion, then it is unlikely you will find anything of interest here. I do hope you enjoy though.. and thanks for listening».
