Moon X: Mixes textures, tempos, rhythms, colors and melodies to fantastic effect

Moon X is a new band formed in 2021 after the demise of Moon Men.  Rather than continue with the same name and in the same direction as the previous group, Newhouse & King decided to alter course, rename the project and add George Newhouse on the drum kit.The result is what you hear from the songs on Zap! If the music must be labelled, then let’s call it jazz/prog-space rock with an experimental twist and the result is something that sounds unique and refreshingly new. Zap! Is their debut album and that music was released early this year.

«Zap! Is the premier Moon X album, hopefully with many more to come, a powerful progressive jazz-rock sound, Moon X’s debut is an amazing effort that should be heard by all», wrote Expose.org, January, 2022.

Marc Farre states on Bandcamp, «Ambitious, rich and full of nutritional goodness. As is a constant with any project avant-prog avatar Dave Newhouse is involved in, ZAP! mixes textures, tempos, rhythms, colors and melodies to fantastic effect. Like a rich dream you don’t want to wake up from. And you really shouldn’t. Favorite track: Trouble In Ranagar».

On the bands Facebook the band states, «this is a page for all the hoomans who have enjoyed the band Moon Men over the years. While Moon Men are on hiatus, Cthulhu Moone, Dom Fook and their new drummer Giles Oort have formed Moon X, a delightful revamping of the 50s sci fi space music genre».
