Genie Cries: Exploring a broad range of concepts.

There have been many band with brothers, and the three Gordon brothers plays together in the very good and fascinating band Genie Cries.

The Limits of Deviation is the debut album of the British trio, Genie Cries. The result of a much belated collaboration between the Brothers Gordon, the album is an experiment in rock, exploring a broad range of concepts, from a vampiric visitation in the middle of the night, to a pink palace conquered by an 8-bit video game protagonist. Join us, on a memorable journey through a variety of moods and musical ideas.

Formed in 2021, Genie Cries are the trio of vocalist, guitarist and solo artist Ian Gordon along with brothers Neil Gordon (keyboards) and Gary Gordon (bass and guitar).  Neil and Gary were members of the band Tirian Flame and Gary went on to play with Magrathea.

Lyrics on Stand Your Ground;

I don’t believe, I don’t believe

We’ll ever see the sun again

We are the shadows in the gloom

Lit by the waning crescent moon

We shun the light of day

It’s safer in the dark

Much sounder underground

So take my hand, I’ll keep you safe

I’ll keep you sheltered from the plague

Sons and daughters, settle down, we’ve found a way to live

With everything they’ve done to us

Learned to coexist

Sons and daughters, settle down, your trust you have to give

No matter what they’ve done to us, soldier on, we soldier on…

One, two, three, get on your feet, it’s time to venture out

Through the streets of Nethertown, into the Woods of Doubt

Just stay alert, they’re all around!

Watch your back, don’t drop your guard

Be sure to stand your ground

We’re fighters in the fray

We’ll drive the beasts away

Don’t you know we’re here to stay?

So take my hand, I’ll keep you safe

I’ll keep you sheltered from the plague

Sons and daughters, settle down, we’ve found a way to live

With everything they’ve done to us

Learned to coexist

Sons and daughters, settle down, your trust you have to give

No matter what they’ve done to us, soldier on, we soldier on…

So take my hand, I’ll keep you safe

I’ll keep you sheltered from the plague

We’ll face the madness in the grey

We’ll live to fight another day!
