Today we visit Oxhole from Czech Republic and present their album Ocean Of Colours which is a colorful album title! Oxhole hails from Sokolov which is a city in West Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It is located on the effervescent river Ohře in the Karlovy Vary region. Oxhole is an effervescent band and are very pleased with their new album Ocean Of Colors.

Says, «Left alone on an island of darkness and gray, the ocean of colors around me promises no pain…».

Oxhole’s debut album Ocean of Colors features 7 different tracks, both classic pieces and new hits. Loaded with great guests (e.g. Damian Wilson, Heri Joensen) and breathtaking sound from Gate Studio (Avantasia, Epica and others), this album brings a new wave of bombastic art-rock.

Oxhole band that brings a new wave of bombastic art-rock. The beginnings date back to 2008, when a group of classmates, enthusiastic fans of progressive metal, picked up musical instruments, most of them for the very first time. Since then, Oxhole has undergone a dramatic transformation, experiencing a number of more or less punk concerts, many quiet years and changes in the line-up.

In 2021 Oxhole comes to life with new energy, new hits and records his debut full-length album Ocean of Colors with significant international participation – their voices were provided by Damian Wilson, Heri Joensen, mixing and mastering took place at Gate Studio (Avantasia, Epica and others). The album is officially released on January 31, 2022.

The founding members are brothers Jindřich Michalik (keyboards and vocals) and Jiří Michalik (drums), who got to know other current members of Oxhole thanks to their work in other bands; Tomáš Štěpánek (guitar, violin) and Tomáš Machát (bass guitar) have been playing at Oxhole since 2020. Oxhole members are active in various groups in the bands End of Scream, Soul Keeper and Cruadalach.

The main influences of the band include Dream Theater, Moon Safari, Queen, Threshold.

Mitt hovedfokus er musikk som er basert på progressiv tenking. Jeg er på ingen måte ensporet innen musikksmak, i likhet med intensjonen bak prog. Sjangerbegrepet er egentlig temmelig uinteressant annet enn til å gi en pekepinn om hva slags musikk det er snakk om i en anmeldelse. Jeg søker god musikk for å utfordre meg som lytter. God musikk til å trigge mine musikalske smaksløker, og til å sette i gang mine refleksjoner. Da er sjansen stor for at jeg utvikler meg og lærer, noe som bør være drivstoff for et hvert menneske. Fordi det å lære og utvikle seg er noe som tilfører livet en nødvendig porsjon "krydder". Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk. Ikke overraskende mener jeg at progressiv musikk har den fineste "smaken". På den annen side kan musikk med eller uten progressive elementer være godt nok til hverdags. Til fest derimot holder bare rendyrket prog! Må jo også få med at jeg rimelig kritisk, og jeg mener at det lages mye prog som er i beste fall uinteressant, og faktisk mye som er pinlig dårlig. Heldigvis oppveies dette av ekstremt dyktige aktører som for eksempel: Flower Kings, Mostly Autumn og White Willow, for å nevne noen tilfeldig valgte.
