Mojave Sky: With ambient environment, enriched with colorful phrases and very strong rhythmic parts.
Mojave Sky - The Cold Embrace Of Whales
Mojave Sky release new album, The Cold Embrace Of Whales. The Cold Embrace of Whales is Mojave Sky’s latest release and accounts for their first professional work. All the recordings and audio process were made exclusively in Noisyland Recordings Studio in Ioannina, Greece.
Their sound takes a massive turn towards new sounds and experimental sections while keeping the fundamentals of post rock alive. The whole album is characterized by an ambient environment, enriched with colorful phrases and very strong rhythmic parts. All of the songs are a part of a story and thus, most of them begin peacefully and escalate gradually into a symphonic harmonized yet powerful ending.
The feature of this album is the complex clouds and tremolo lines which react with e-bow phrases and construct a very dreamy environment. It is clear the band has been heavily affected by major post-rock names such as Ittct and Giaa while they bring forward their own signature of clean and delayed riffs accompanied by monologues and documentary-like voiceovers. In some songs like the Fencing Stolen Paintings, the band follows a more aggressive pattern and disturbs the emerging pattern.
One of these songs, Last Whirlwinds Of Hope And Despair consists only of soundscapes and a monologue giving the final project a more cinematic blend. The whole album is the 2nd inline, out of a 4-piece series, following Karma and continues to describe the astronaut’s journey as he finds himself trapped in an eternal space-time loop looking for ways to break the cycle, while his reality warps and becomes a puzzle of his memories overlapping the actions of his parallel selves.
