Pure Reason Revolution: Sounds better than ever!

Pure Reason Revolution came back two years ago after a hiatus and now they sounds better than ever on their new album Above Cirrus. On that album they hail back to their earliest influences, and the music is cinematic prog and psychedelic prog and the band explore their sound palette fascinating intensively.

Pure Reason Revolution began life as a Reading outfit named The Sunset Sound, which featured the Courtney brothers, Chloë Alper and, for a short while, Jim Dobson. Says, «No boundaries became our manifesto……»!

Pure Reason Revolution was founded in London, UK in 2003 – Disbanded in 2011. The group formed at Westminster University in 2003. Trying to fit PRR into a specific genre would be a difficult task, which is one of their attractive qualities. Space rock mingled with some modern-day rock, vocal harmonies and popish tunes together with heavy guitar riffs, catchy musical lines with more complex song structure. All of these exist in their music. As their official website states: “Their music incorporates elements of progressive rock and grunge rock, while its vocal harmonies are reminiscent of The Beach Boys. They have been variously described as Astral Folk and New Prog. Members have a shared appreciation for the work of bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and the Super Furry Animals.
