Somali Yacht Club: A new age of atmospheric stoner has arrived.

Yachts are fascinating boats, and the band Somali Yacht Club is definitely a fascinating band. Their new album is entitled The Space and the band is a psychedelic/stoner/shoegaze trio from Lviv, Ukraine. The very good track Pulsar,

Named after the real-life pirates who attack vessels off the Somalian coast and the peaceful leisure of those with time to kill and money to  musically embodies the boundless, wide-open, quiet/loud spaces that atmospheric post-rock and metal occupy. The band’s third full-length The Space finds the trio in full expanse of their sonic elements, delivering six cuts of atmospheric post-rock/metal with dashes of melancholy and introspection. A new age of stoner has arrived. The track Silver,

All the songs on The Space are very well written but with such music it is always hard to focus on individual songs. The album must be heard as a whole but the highlight is the song Momentum. 12,5 minutes and a splendid and epic song encompassing elements from the other songs.A great end of the album and showcasing a very talented band.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8wlB_ekjes

The band mixes elements of stoner rock, psychedelic rock, shoegazing and post-metal in their music. Formed in 2010, as a jam band, but evolved to a main band for it’s members. In August 2011 self-released their first four-song EP Sandsong”. In late 2014 are releasing first LP The Sun on Bilocation Records and Robustfellow.
