Heterochrome: Eclectic and innovative and with actual and very thoughtful lyrics.

Heterochrome – Out Of Ashes

Heterochrome started when Arash Rezaei, and Mida Malek met and collaborated as the Lead Guitarist and Vocalist in 2014. Their lyrics and music points out social and political issues of both their home country Iran, such as incarceration and criminalization of the metal genre, homosexuality and female singing, and on a larger scale the world, such as the climate change dilemma.

Iranian prog rock / metal trio Heterochrome and their new album From The Ashes due out May 13th, 2022. (Note – The album is sung in both Farsi and English. Vocalist Mida Malek is currently based in Vancouver, BC, Canada). The track Badbadak (The Flight),

Lyrics:

Try to keep your head above the water

Feel the pressure where there’s no room left to breathe

All the guilt and shame and all that sorrow, spreading through the air

Do you ever wonder how to break free?

Try to close your eyes, on all the pain

Feel the tear of bullets and fire on your skin

All the lies they tell and tortures you’ve endured

They will never let you spread your wings and reach a cure

This is the band’s second album to follow their 2017 debut Melancholia, which was released to rave media reviews from around the world. The writing and production of this new offering has taken four years to complete and was recorded in multiple countries including Iran, Finland, Canada, Spain, and South Korea, while the mastering took place in Russia. Unlike the first album, this album features a lot of recorded acoustic instruments including live acoustic drums and cello. The track Baraye Farda, (For Tomorrow).

With a wide variety of influences ranging from progressive rock to 90s and beyond alternative and gothic scenes, Heterochrome merges Iranian social and political issues into melancholy and diverse music. From The Ashes was written as a concept album, with every single track forming a small part of a bigger picture. Each track has a unique story by itself and can be enjoyed individually, but the album has been tailored with smooth transitions between them.  Eclectic and innovative, Heterochrome is recommended for fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Gojira.

About Ulf Backstrøm (7226 Articles)
Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
