Metide: The concept and composition trace back to the end of 2019.
Metide – Circadians
Circadians is Metide’s new EP and is available on cassette and digital streaming. Self-produced, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna), Circadians marks a natural evolution in Metide’s sound exploration. Reflecting on the inextricable dualism of body and mind, ephemeral and infinite, Circadians unfolds a story through two tightly bound twin tracks; with this idea in mind, Metide progresses their quest, leveraging contrasting elements, weaving inklings rather than relying on rigid song structures.
Tracklist:
1. Circadiæn (Video)
2. Circadiæn (Reprise)
The concept and composition of Circadians trace back to the end of 2019 when, after welcoming Riccardo Vaccaro as a new guitarist, the band was about to play what turned out to be their last concert due to causes now known to everyone; that forced halt has undoubtedly modified the production process, intervening on the songs final arrangement, influencing their mood and outcome.
The choice to pair the two compositions with a meaningful visual component is a further attempt (perhaps, unconscious) to strongly state the resumption of activities, to exorcise the fears of those days, offering an immersive listening experience. The artwork that accompanies Circadians, curated by Omar (vocals and guitars) and by Bergamo based Spleen Studio, has been created to try and express the need to explore the wondrous, hermetic mechanisms which rule our Universe.
Metide, formed in Bergamo (Italy) in 2018, released Solution, their first record, in 2019 and the EP Circadians, in 2022. They have played several live acts, with bands like Messa, Sunpocrisy, Sator and Plateau Sigma.
On 21st December 2019, we chose to play Circadians live in its entirety for the first time, on the occasion of our participation in Trai Fest, at the historical venue Bloom In Mezzago. During that performance we have filmed the clips which animate the video clip for Circædian. That was our last concert before the pandemic hit.
