Genesis: Selling Genesis By The Dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Genesis – 400 million dollars sale!

The year is 1967, and two bands from boarding school Charterhouse join forces. The pop mogul Jonathan King picks up these young, inexperienced gentlemen and gets them a record deal. Then it’s headlong into the studio, and recording an album in Mr. King’s ambitious spirit, about the earth and its creation. The result is a disc filled with mostly bland and bland pop with the band named by King after the opening book of the Bible. Genesis’ firstborn From Genesis To Revelation is selling poorly. This results in some reasonably disillusioned boarding school boys. Coincidentally, the young budding musicians lend their ears to King Crimson one day!

Since the somewhat troubled start, Genesis has become a giant band and has released an enormous number of albums and received a lot of praise. This pays of these days, because…..

Several credible media in the US write about the billion-dollar trade, including the Wall Street Journal. In that case, the agreement is one of the largest rights transfers in music history.

There have been many of these in the last two years. Both the icons Bob Dylan (81) and Bruce Springsteen (73) have done the same for 400 million dollars (4.3 billion Norwegian kroner) and 500 million dollars (5.4 billion kroner), respectively, according to the Wall Street Journal, which has information from persons closely associated with the agreements.

Phil Collins is ready for farewell tour with legendary Genesis. We don’t get to see him behind the drum kit this time either.

It is Concord Music Group which has now allegedly bought the rights to all Genesis albums and all the solo albums of the three members. The songs of Peter Gabriel, which Collins replaced in Genesis, shall not be covered by the agreement.

That makes 15 studio albums from Genesis, eight solo records from Phil Collins, six from Tony Banks (72) and two from Mike Rutherford (71), as well as nine from the latter’s second project, Mike + The Mechanics.

Genesis affected by corona – must postpone concerts. Genesis must face the last concerts of the reunion tour after one or more of the band has been proven…

Phil Collins joined Genesis in 1970 and also took over as vocalist when Peter Gabriel left. He has written several of the biggest hit songs for Genesis, such as Invisible Touch, I Can’t Dance and That’s All, but he had even greater success as a solo artist with, among others, his solo debut In The Air Tonight and since Against All Odds, One More Night and Another Day In Paradise.

Collins has won eight Grammy awards and an Oscar for best original song, You’ll Be In My Heart from the animated film Tarzan in 1999. Phil Collins is BTW now 71 years old.
