Heavn Pierce Her - Ultrakill: Imperfect Hatred

Ultrakill: Imperfect Hatred is the soundtrack to the second act of the retro FPS-shooter Ultrakill and was released in September 2022. Both the game and the music have the same creator, Arsi “Hakita” Patala.

The hour-long OST consists of sixteen songs with a soundscape drawing influences from both metal and electronic music. All the tracks are written by Patala himself, except the tenor saxophone on Deep Blue which was improvised by Hungarian artist Quetzal Tirado. You will also find a couple of pieces by Bach and Beethoven.

Arsi Patala has released several albums under the nickname Hakita, but since 2017 he’s been publishing under the name Heaven Pierce Her. There is one exception, the harsh noise collaborative project he did with Pitr called Kill the Kathchon, which was released on April’s fools day of 2022.

The darkened music draws its main influences from electronic subgenres like drum and bass and breakcore mixed with a more industrial form of metal. Though, you do find other genres throughout the listen like jazz and various types of folk music. The result is a rhythmic, aggressive and dark sound.
