Black Midi: Huge wow factor band!

Black Midi - Hellfire

I’m probably more interested in music than most people, and I probably catch a lot of the new albums and bands that come out. I miss some, so it is very gratifying when I am made aware of really good music from the band by Permafrost Jon Skjeseth.

Black Midi is a very good band, or even can even be labeled as a extreme talented English band and they offers their own distinct music brew on their third record Hellfire as their music is a marriage between controlled craziness and clinical and precise and excellent musical skills. This is out of the box music at its best.

Black Midi (stylized black midi) are an English rock band from London, formed in 2017 by Geordie Greep (vocals, guitar), Cameron Picton (vocals, bass guitar, synths), Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin (vocals, guitar) and Morgan Simpson (drums). The band is currently a trio consisting of Greep, Picton and Simpson, with Seth Evans (keyboards, synths) and Kaidi Akinnibi (saxophone) being frequent collaborators in both studio and live performances since 2020.

It received critical acclaim, entered the top 50 of the UK Albums Chart, and was nominated for the 2019 Mercury Prize. An anthology album including several recorded jams and spoken word tracks, The Black Midi Anthology Vol. 1: Tales of Suspense and Revenge, was released on 5 June 2020 exclusively to Bandcamp.
