Abacus: With prog and ancient calculating tool.

Abacus - Highland Warrior

Abacus is a very old, but also very good band. They were founded in 1971 and with 4 albums by Polydor (1971 – 1974), the band split of the subject of future musical directions. Back in 1980 with an EMI deal, but were forced by their publishing house to write German words for their next production. So they split again in 1983 after having done just one single in English. Another victim of the changing music scene not so very kind to prog bands. In 1997 Abacus met again to do some unpublished songs for their 5th album Fire Behind Bars.

Now the band is back with their eight album Highland Warrior, and again they deliver a good record. The music is inspired by Genesis, Greensland and Pink Floyd, and Abacus offers now a modern and attractive corossover prog.

The name Abacus is based on the ancient calculating tool Abacus. The band, founded in Hamm/Westphalia (Germany) in 1971, had their breakthrough at the Germersheim Rock Festival in 1972.
